A letter from Mr, Hooks:
I pray you and your family are well. These are some challenging and difficult times for you and your family. This includes teaching and learning during the COVID-19 period.
We’re coming to a close of our first week of Remote Learning from Home. By now, your child/children should have been in contact with his/her teacher either through Google Classroom or ClassDojo. If your child or you have not made any contact with their teacher(s) please email Ms. C. Laureano, Parent Coordinator at CLaureano@schools.nyc.gov.
You can also use our website for Pre-K to 5th grade instructional resources and online resources for your child/children to use during our Remote Learning Period. In addition, if you need a laptop or IPad you should complete the online DOE form, found below. Once you complete the survey online, you then can call (718) 935-2200 to request a laptop or an IPad.
We ask for your participation in assisting us with providing your child/children with this new learning experience that will lead to high level of engagement, inquiry, questioning, thinking, and accountability. Your support will assist my staff in making this new experience of remote learning exciting for your child/children. Here are the responsibilities of the students and their families given to us by the NYC DOE:
Students should complete instructional activities assigned by teachers within the expected timelines.
Students should participate in check-ins, discussions, and other communication mechanisms as expected by the teacher.
Students should review teacher feedback and complete any follow-up activities as assigned by the teacher.
Students and families should proactively notify their teacher or a school administrator school with any concerns about progress or additional support needed.
Families should support students in being successful by establishing routines and habits that support their success in remote learning.
Families should ensure that students are adhering to their school’s contract for appropriate behavior on web-enabled devices.
Please stay healthy and safe. We do miss all our wonderful students and I look forward to seeing everyone soon at our house of learning at PS 123Q STEMA SCHOOL.
